Bay of Plenty young star looking to shine on NZ stage

Charlice Bryce is a talented touch player from the Bay of Plenty. She has been named in the New Zealand Under 16 girls’ team for the second time, but last year, Charlice was unable to attend the tour due to a clash of sporting commitments.

This year, she will get the opportunity to put on the Touch NZ singlet for the first time and represent her country in a sport she loves.

The highly motivated young athlete looks to better herself with each sporting opportunity that gets presented to her, and this tour is no different. Charlice said that she is looking to further develop her skills both on and off the field.

When asked about what she is looking forward to the most about the tour, she said, “learning a bunch of new things to not only help myself improve, but to also gather knowledge and help give back.”

The 16s tour gives young players a chance to showcase their skills and talent at the highest level. Charlice said that she is looking forward to playing with, and against, different people who all are highly skilled individual touch players.

Having achieved so much at such a young age, Charlice understandably has set high aspirations for her sporting career. Drawing inspiration from one of New Zealand’s best female rugby players, Stacey Fluhler, Charlice said “she has come all this way from being a small-town girl living in our hometown Ruatoki and then seeing her grow and reach those higher areas and levels of sports is just so inspiring to see.”
