2021 Bunnings NZSS Touch Championship Cancelled

School Sport NZ, in consultation with Touch New Zealand (TNZ) have confirmed the cancellation of Term 4 sport which will see the 2021 Bunnings NZSS Touch Championship cancelled for this year.

The event was set to be held from 17th – 19th December 2021 in Rotorua, however, the current alert level system restrictions impact greatly on the viability of School Sport events scheduled for Term 4 and the difficult decision to cancel the event was made.

TNZ Tournament Manager, Guy Barton acknowledged the hard work that had been done behind the scenes to date.

“We recognise this decision will affect our rangatahi, schools and whānau in different ways, but we hope this provides an opportunity to finish the year with some clarity and certainty.”

TNZ would also like to thank the venue, suppliers, contractors, and sponsors for their ongoing support through this time.

The cancellation will see no TNZ National events held until early 2022 commencing with Youth Nationals in February.
