Touch NZ is excited to announce that Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the upcoming High Performance Programme will officially open on Monday, 4 August 2025, and close on Monday, 25 August 2025. This is a unique opportunity for players across Aotearoa to step forward and showcase their talent on the national stage.
The EOI process is open to the wider public, inviting all aspiring athletes who are keen to be part of the elite pathway to register their interest.
Once EOIs close, a shortlist of eligible players will be shared with Franchise Owners for team allocation in the Premier Touch League (PTL).
The PTL will take place in Auckland from 22–23 November 2025, offering fans a chance to witness top-tier touch action in a vibrant and competitive setting. This public event promises thrilling performances and a celebration of the sport’s finest talent.
Players who impress at the PTL will progress to the Home Grown Series, scheduled for 16–18 January 2026 in Auckland.
This series will feature two male and two female teams, competing in a four-game showdown across the weekend. Open to the public, the Home Grown Series is a showcase of the best in touch, as athletes vie for final selection into the Touch Blacks.
The final trial will be held during the 2026 Bunnings National Touch Championship, from 27 February to 1 March 2026 in Upper Hutt, Wellington.
Following this event, Touch NZ will begin the official player notification process, in line with the Touch NZ Selection Policy.
Attendance at all three trials is mandatory for those seeking selection. Touch NZ remains committed to a transparent and inclusive process, ensuring every player has a fair opportunity to participate and succeed.
