Game One - Australia 10 defeated New Zealand 9

Ranked as strong contenders to contest the Trans Tasman title, the Touch Blacks Open Mixed pulled out an electrifying performance against Australia who were equally dynamic taking the first test by one Touchdown.

With more than half the team on debut (11 players), NZ showcased their raw talent by scoring some amazing touchdowns & almost providing the spectators with a drop off in the first Test of the series.

OPEN WOMENS

Game One - Australia 7 defeated New Zealand 6

After two strong games against Japan, New Zealand hit the field with vitality and vigour – scoring 2 quick touchdowns in the first 6 minutes. After a seesawing match with some amazing defensive footwork and agility Australia came back to level the score with just 3 seconds on the clock. An amazing Touchdown was conceded with Australia pipping NZ at the post to win 7-6.

Game One - Australia 13 defeated New Zealand 7

Australia Open Mens were on fire in their first Trans Tasman battle for 2016. Despite New Zealand penetrating the defence 7 times they couldn’t narrow the gap enough to contest the title for this first test.

Day 2 promises to be a nail biter with 2 marginal wins out of the 3 tests and more explosive action to be guaranteed – not only by these 6 teams but also to Japan and the Invitational teams who have provided veritable entertainment to the spectators.
