SAS 2016 NZ Secondary Schools National Touch Championship windup

Hamilton Boys and Hamilton Girls are new champions in both the boys and the girls grades respectively with reigning Mixed champions Wanganui High retaining their title for the second consecutive year.

The event was at capacity with 48 teams competing in three grades of 16 teams from the far South through to Whangarei Boys in the North. Whilst the event was a mixture of four seasons in one weekend producing logistical challenges with field changes and restrictions on flags and tents due to high winds, the games were played in excellent spirit.

There were 54 referees registered to officiate the 192 games averaging 10 games per referee over the weekend.
