NEW ZEALAND GET ‘UP’ DAY TWO

2017 Youth Trans Tasman Series – DAY TWO

It’s game on for the 18 Girls and 20 Boys after the conclusion of day two with both teams winning one of their two tests to level the series. The performances of the other four teams were also an improvement on yesterday with the U18 Boys game going to a drop off, a narrow secondary loss to the 18 Mixed and the 20 Mixed and Girls holding their own but dropping off in the second half.

The U18 Girls showed the biggest improvement, picking up the anti in their yards, accuracy and most importantly their line ‘d’. It was a gutsy and disciplined effort and the girls can boast they won the ‘dog fight’ by coming up trumps at the tail end of the drop-off.

NZ teams have built progressively throughout the tournament with all teams determined to finish well in their final match despite losing the overall series with the heart wrenching loss of the U18’s Boys game which was a nail biter to the bitter end.

With dismal weather forecast tomorrow – spectators are advised to bring their wet weather gear & hold onto their hats!
