TWC DAY 2: NZ impress, but more work needed after day two in in Malaysia

It was a cooler start on day two of the Touch World Cup with rain setting in for the first few rounds. For five NZ teams, today was their chance to shake off the jitters as they took to the field for the first time.

The NZ 35 Men’s team kicked off their World Cup campaign with an impressive and powerful haka, followed by a convincing 12-3 win over USA.

The NZ Open Women’s team came out of the blocks firing, with an outstanding performance against Netherlands. Winger and debutant, Princess Elliot scoring 6 of the teams 20 touchdowns.

Much like day one, our NZ teams managed an impressive performance across the board, only struggling to pip Australia in three of the days’ games.

The Australian teams continue to show why they are ranked first in the World, with fast and precise play from start to finish. NZ will have plenty to work on in the coming days if they intend on turning the tides.
