Support - Resource & Networks

Touch New Zealand has created this page as a central place for support, guidance and connection following the loss of a much-loved member of our community.

Grief can affect each of us differently. You may be feeling shock, sadness, anger, confusion, or simply unsure of what to do next. Whatever you are experiencing, please know that you are not alone. It is important to reach out if you are feeling overwhelmed or in need of support.

Below you will find a range of trusted services, resources and networks available to support you, your whānau, or someone important to you during this time. We encourage you to review these options and connect with the support that feels right for you.

How to get support for yourself

It’s important to prioritise your mental health and wellbeing, and to seek support whenever you need it.

Experiencing difficult periods, or feeling low and sad at times, is a normal part of life. These feelings can arise from personal challenges, events happening around the world, or sometimes for no clear reason at all. They are part of the human experience.

In many cases, these emotions ease with time. However, if they persist or begin to impact your day-to-day life, it’s important to reach out and access the support you need and deserve.

IN LOVING MEMORY OF MOSES PURU

We join our entire touch community in mourning, following the news of the passing of Moses Puru.

Moses was a much-loved member of our community - known for his warmth, humility and generous spirit. He carried himself with strength and kindness, and his presence left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him. The loss felt across our touch whānau is immense.

An incredibly talented touch player, Moses was very much a product of the South - representing Counties Manukau & going on to enter the TNZ HP Pathway representing NZ at the youth grade level.

Our thoughts and heartfelt aroha are with Moses’ whānau, loved ones and friends during this incredibly difficult time.

Your smile was like none other, Moses.

Thank you for your kindness, the many, many laughs and for choosing us - touch - as your people.
